There is a theoretical or rather a theoretically improbable reason we cannot travel in time. But if we could then the philosophical repercussions could alter the whole theory of just about what everything really is. For example I think therefore I was. Or will be or I am.
Remember there was a time when there was and there was a time when there wasn’t and one day in the future time travel will be a thing of the past. Or so we may be led to believe. So lets carry on with the concept that time travel is possible.
Some of the things we would have to learn more about would be the speed of light, this is a universal constant and cannot be exceeded, gravity could be construed as being another universal constant we would have to master. Then there would be the curvature of space time, and the infinity of the space time continuum.
This is all before we truly understand the nature of paradoxes that come with time travel. But more importantly would time travel negate the fact that to some people Glossop Derbyshire is the center of the known universe.
So then where do we start well it stated with an invitation to a birthday party. To be more precise a invitation to Steve Hawkins birthday party. Which naturally you will accept. But is this party in the past or do we have to travel to the past to attend Steve Hawkins future party.
So you have accepted.
But time travel as not yet been invented so what do you do ? The clue lies in the deepest vaults of the Sisteen Chapel for there you will find a picture of 16th century Benedictine Monks watching a live English premier league match on a 72inch HDTV one of the Monks is talking to some one on a mobile phone.
So time travel can be achieved will be achieved was achieved but what about the paradoxes ? What happens if you inadvertently stop your great grandmother from meeting your great grandfather, do you yourself suddenly become your own great grandfather, or does the future suddenly not exist because the past never happened. And if the future does not exist anymore then what about you ? Do you still exist in a future that you travelled from or are you now a past event never really occurred.
Perhaps one day when time travel does get invented we should seriously consider going back thirteen point eight billion years to stop the big bang from happening or at least put it back a couple of weeks just to give a bit of time to consider what comes next. Then we may just find the answer to one of times most fundamental questions.
